Ann Cooney
Ann Cooney has been involved with Southern Area Hospice Services, Newry (formerly Newry Hospice) since it's inception. For two years prior to that she worked in finance and administration at the John of God Hospital, run by the Sisters of St John of God. She talks about the Sisters decision to branch out into hospice care and her own role as Administrative Director. She also discusses the management of the Hospice; the principle changes that have occurred; the biggest challenges and problems they have faced; the Sisters involvement in the Hospice; cross border initiatives; the impact of the religious and political situation in Northern Ireland; the organisation of volunteers; the geographical separation of Northern Ireland from the rest of the UK; and their relationship with the other Hospices in the Province. She ends by talking about what she feels the future holds for Southern Area Hospice Services.
