David Kissane
David Kissane took up post at Caritas Christi Hospice in Kew, Melbourne in 1996 as one of Australia's Chairs of Palliative Care. Dr Bill Keane, however, has been involved with the hospice since the 1950s. Both give their perspective on the development of the hospice since its foundation in 1938 by the Sisters of Charity, and wider developments in Australia, which culminated in the inclusion of palliative care in postgraduate teaching and the development of Chairs in Palliative Care in the 1990s. Australian hospice development and the crucial role of religious orders is contrasted to developments in Britain.
